Spotlight of the Day: Clark Gable
"You made me love you. I didn't wanna do it, I didn't wanna do it." Those are the words a young Judy Garland sang to her screen star idol, Clark Gable, in Broadway Melody of 1938. Gable, born on this date in 1901, was an icon of the silver screen; he played the romantic lead in dozens of films and won the Oscar for his performance in It Happened One Night (1934). His quintessential role was that of Rhett Butler in Gone With the Wind, opposite Vivien Leigh. Gable and Marilyn Monroe played together in what would be the last film either of them would make, The Misfits.
